Beginning of the end

This happened roughly 10 minutes after the girls woke up in the first day of summer.

Hannah: Do you have to be mean all the time?

Libby (laughing maniacally): YES

Hannah: Libby, you can be mean to me all you want.

Libby: OKAY

Proper Feelings

Hannah got to go out on the field at last nights auburn baseball game and meet the players. She wouldn't give them high fives. When she came back to me, I asked her why.

Because they're boys and I don't like giving boys high fives except for my daddy.

Well That's the One Thing We've Got

Julie: its dinner time lets talk about something we all can talk about.

Hannah: like Justin bieber?

Animal Kingdom

Libby: meow, meow.

Julie: what's that?

Me: it's the very rare Libby kitty. It's very sweet, but also ...

Hannah: ... Terrifying

Can I get a witness?

Libby's been sitting with us at "big church" lately because she hates the toddler room so much. This happened a couple weeks ago at the start of the service.

Pastor: Good morning.

Libby: GOOD MORNING MY NAME'S LIBBY

Do You Dream in Color?

Julie asked Libby if she wanted orange juice.

Libby: No I want pink juice.

Don't Call it a Comeback

The girls have had a stomach bug for several days now, which of course, means no dairy. That's pretty much torture for a milkaholic like Libby.

Today they're finally better. Libby got milk and cereal for breakfast, and this was her reaction.

(While hugging cereal bowl) "welcome home cereal"

Brown nosing

Hannah was looking at a drawing.

Hannah: How do people draw this good?

Me: You can probably draw this good.

Julie: that's true I bet you could learn Hannah you're very talented.

Me: I'm glad you got your moms artistic talent Hannah I don't have any.

Hannah: Yes you do yours is being super smart.

Top Chef

We gave Libby a donut this morning.

Libby: Yum I like donuts.

(Two minutes later)
Libby: Yucky I don't like donuts.

(15 seconds later)
Libby: mmmm delicious

Princess Diaries

Thursday night near bedtime I decided to turn on the NCAA tournament to coax the girls to go to bed.

Me: Now it's time to watch basketball!

Libby: princess basketball?

Jurassic Bark, part deux

Hannah was telling Libby about dinosaurs.

Libby: Oh no, dinosaurs!

Hannah: its ok Libby all the dinosaurs are dead.

Libby: Oh no, what happened daddy?

Jurassic Bark

A couple weeks ago there was a thunderstorm rolling through town. At one point, a really loud thunderclap hit.

"Oh no, a dinosaur!" Libby shouted

Fine Dining

Hannah was pretending to run a restaurant. I kept ordering random stuff. After a while she started huffing whenever I ordered something.

Me: You're very rude if like to speak to your manager.

Julie (pointing at Libby, who was already laughing hysterically): Right here.

Me: Your service is terrible.

Libby: Hahahahahahahaha

Me: I'm never coming back to your establishment.

Libby: Meow?

Frozen Yoga

Julie and I were desperately trying to get the girls to calm down tonight, so we made up our own yoga. After some stretching and breathing, I told them to meditate, which required some explanation.

Me: you sit quietly, close your eyes and think about things that make you feel happy, peaceful and relaxed. I would think about our family, or baseball.

Hannah: I think about when I'm relaxing.

Julie: what are you thinking about?

Libby: Fire!

Kryptonite

We ate Moe's for lunch. Hannah asked me to read what was on her cup.

Me: If I could have a superpower it would be ____?

Hannah: Taco!

Me: That's an interesting choice.

Hannah: ... Strawberry?

Oh Baby

Julie was wearing her Beatles shirt yesterday.

Hannah: I like your shirt mama is that Justin bieber?

Allez Cuisine

I cooked some grilled cheese sandwiches and canned tomato soup for dinner. Hannah thought it was the best thing she'd ever had, particularly the soup.

"It tastes like sugar and honey and sweetness."

"It tastes like pudding but its soup and its so good."

A Dream Deferred

We went by the shelter Saturday (Julie claims just to "pet" the animals but I know better) and Hannah fell in love with one.

It was a little terrier mutt of some sort. We decided to get it, but were told we couldn't until it was spayed (it was only six or seven weeks old). Hannah was, for lack of a better word, crushed.

On the way home Hannah told us all about how she was going to take such good care of the dog, and even settled on a name.

Sadly, today we were told that the dog had come down with parvo, and that our best bet would be to pick a different dog as they felt the best option would be to euthanize her.

Hannah was, again, crushed.

But we'll find another dog. Here's a picture to remember her by.

RIP, Sparkles

Rollin' on 20s

We were getting our van serviced at the dealership and Hannah and Libby decided to check out the cars.

At some point, Hannah morphed into a car salesperson.

"This car is good for people."

"If you're going somewhere this car knows how to get there."

There She Is ...

I was trying to explain the miss America pageant to Hannah.

Me: Well they find out which girl is prettiest and smartest and whichever one is, wins.

Hannah: who won?

Me: A girl from Opelika.

Hannah: Mama?

An Entirely New Banking Experience

I guess Hannah's been hearing me talk about work too much, because she decided to start a bank in our room. Libby came in and stunk the place up, and Hannah ran out to tell us:

GET THIS BABY OUT OF HERE SHE'S POOPING IN THE BANK

WE DON'T NEED NO POOPING IN THE BANK
